My Story
My passion for education, gerontology, and public health began with my grandparents. Growing up, I spent my childhood listening to their stories, learning from their experiences, and witnessing the faith, resilience, and joy they brought to everyday life. My Papa, in particular, challenged many common stereotypes about aging through his active lifestyle and enthusiasm for living.
Those early experiences sparked a lifelong interest in understanding the aging experience and ultimately inspired my career path. Today, I am dedicated to helping students explore aging through a more informed and compassionate lens, challenging misconceptions and recognizing the value, wisdom, and contributions of older adults.
That journey led me to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Aging Studies, and to build a career focused on teaching, instructional design, and creating meaningful learning experiences that connect knowledge with real-world impact.

Designing Meaningful Learning Experiences
I believe meaningful learning happens when students feel connected—to the content, to one another, and to their own experiences. Whether teaching online or designing learning experiences, I strive to create engaging, learner-centered environments where community is built through curiosity and reflection. My approach is grounded in instructional design principles that transcend disciplines, including active engagement, accessibility, intentional technology integration, and real-world application. By encouraging learners to explore multiple perspectives, think critically, and connect concepts to real-world challenges, I aim to create learning experiences that are relevant, impactful, and extend beyond the classroom.
